"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as in all wisdom you teach and admonish one another, singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God."
- Colossians 3:16

"Music should assist the assembled believers to express and share the gift of faith that is within them and nourish and strengthen their interior commitment of faith."
- "Music in Catholic Worship", Bishops' Committee on the Liturgy

At St. Joseph we realize that meaningful music for worship which is accessible by everyone is vital to experiencing life-giving, faith-building, unifying celebrations. All who participate in parish music ministry share the responsibility of realizing this vision through the discernment and development of their gifts, their commitments to rehearsing and in living out the aim of "full, conscious and active" participation of the faithful at liturgy.

Who should be in music ministry? Those with musical gifts, who love to sing and make music with others and can commit to attend a weekly rehearsal and Mass. Choral experience is helpful but is not required. For instrumentalists, an intermediate level of proficiency is required.

For adults there are two opportunities:
     Saturday Vigil Mass 5:00 p.m.
Rehearsal Tuesday 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in the music room.
     Sunday morning 10:30 a.m. Mass
Rehearsal Wednesday 8:00 to 9:30 p.m. in the music room.

For youth grades 7 - 12
     Sunday 12:15 p.m. Mass
Rehearsal Sunday 8:00 to 8:45 p.m. in the music room.

For children grades 3 - 6
Sunday 12:15 p.m. Mass once a month and on Easter and Christmas
Rehearsal Wednesday 5:00 to 5:45 p.m. in the music room.

How do you join? Adults should contact either Jim Norris(972 530 6002) or Lucia Cunningham(972 276 7450) to set up a brief interview. All children and youth simply need to come to a rehearsal(The remaining part about always looking for additional members should stay the same) All groups are seeking additional members especially male singers of all ages and instrumentalists. Parents of children interested in joining the children's choir participate in the children's commitment to serve by faithfully bringing them to rehearsals and Masses.

Meetings:  Choir rehearsals in the Music Room.

This Music Ministry also has a CD. It is available for purchase in the Parish Office.
