Ministry of Readers

The Ministry of Lectors faithfully proclaims God’s Word to the assembled faithful at liturgical celebrations. The ministry stresses belief in the ever-active power of the proclaimed word as rooted in Isaiah 55:10-11: “My word shall not return to me void, but shall do my will, achieving the end for which I sent it.” In the words of the Second Vatican Council, “In the liturgy God is speaking to his people and Christ is still proclaiming his gospel.” A reader usually reads at one Mass per month.

Membership: Registered parishioners who possess adequate speaking voices and a degree of reading proficiency. Poise and decorum befitting the liturgical celebration is required, as well as commitment to prayer and preparation.
